2009 SEMINARS

It was another great weekend of training for MAP students when our good friend and coach Leonardo Santos visited us on November 14-15, 2009. Leo taught his famous butterfly guard, along with numerous other valuable skills. It was an extra special weekend for certain students due to some well-deserved promotions! Thanks Leo.

We knew when we booked Straight Blast Gym’s John Kavanagh to teach at our school that the workshop he would put on would be great. We are super pleased to report that he actually exceeded even our expectations on the July 11-12, 2009 event. Every gem that he shared was truly a "money" move. We have already had the pleasure of watching numerous students working to implement the newly-learned skills into their training. That is the perfect outcome of a seminar!

Approximately 20 MAP students and guests were on hand to train with longtime coach and friend Wagnney Fabiano on June 6-7, 2009. The 2-day seminar covered both MMA and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu skills with Wagnney who is currently the number 3 ranked lightweight in the world (MMA). The seminar was made extra special when MAP co-owner Rebecca Sweeney was promoted to the rank of Black Belt. We were all very happy to be on hand to both witness the special promotion and train with one of the sport's best!

Our April 18-19 seminar with SBGi President Matt Thornton was a huge hit, but of course we knew it would be! Matt has perfected the art of sharing fully-functional skills in an easy-to-retain method. This no-nonsence approach is what draws people from all over to train with him.

The January 24/25 seminar with World BJJ Champion Leo Santos was awesome! Leo is super approachable and always has a huge smile on his face. He maintains this smile even while he is tearing his opponents up on the mat! His instruction had the perfect blend of fundamentals and flash and was appreciated by everyone from the newest beginners to the gym's coaches.
