SEMINARS ARCHIVE:

Read some quotes from guests who attended some of our previous seminars:

"The Sweeneys' Gym is one of the nicest facilities I have ever been to. And it is certainly the nicest facility I have visited which teaches an Alive and functional program... so that is very cool to see.
As usual everyone was really nice and the entire group of people at the seminar was a pleasure to be around." Matt T.

"Martial Arts Planet is one of the nicest facilities that I have ever been to. It has a great atmosphere and no egos. Mike Sweeney is a knowledgeable instructor in a number of martial arts. He is constantly expanding his knowledge and giving back to the martial arts community by bringing down the absolute best people in the world to train and teach seminars." PJ

SEMINARS 2002+

Our most sincere thanks goes out to Professor Marcus Soares for once again visiting our school and teaching another exciting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu workshop on December 7-8, 2002. The technical details you share are invaluable. You truly offer Jiu-jitsu "without secrets!"

Marcus Soares Seminar 2002

Our staff and students would like to thank Professor Wagnney Fabiano for visiting our school on Oct 5-6, 2002 and sharing some of his extensive BJJ knowledge with us.

Seminar with Wagnney Fabiano

On Monday June 10, 2002 a small group of our students and guests had the opportunity to learn some of the subtleties of BJJ with Nova Uniao president Andre Pedenaires. Mr. Pedenaires is visiting Canada from Brazil to help his student Wagnney Fabiano prepare for his upcoming fight in the Universal Combat Challenge.

We had a full house on hand to take advantage of Ajarn Chai's annual visit on April 13-14, 2002. In addition to walking away sweaty and smiling, the seminar participants gained an increased understanding of the fine points of Muay Thai that only someone with Ajarn's experience can share. Our congratulations goes out to the four students who tested for their Apprentice Instructor level at the seminar.

Our staff and students would like to wish Ricco Rodriguez a huge thank you for the outstanding seminar he put on for us on March 9 and 10, 2002. The students definitely appreciated being taught skills that you put into practice in your MMA fights. The fight training that you put us through left everyone sweaty and sore but smiling. We wish you all the best in your upcoming UFC fight.

Our warmest thanks goes out to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and Team Nova Uniao Cofounder Wendell Alexander who spent an entire month in Kingston teaching at our school. The students are already counting the days until we can have you back as our guest again.

Guro Philip Gelinas and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Wagnney Fabiano were in Kingston on September 15 and 16 to CO-teach at our Martial Arts Extravaganza. Guro Gelinas blew everyone away with his clinic in Pekiti Tersia Kali and Dog Brothers Martial Arts. Wagnney also wowed the seminar participants with his incredible grappling skills. Our thanks goes out to them for traveling to Kingston and sharing their skills with us.

Professor Marcus Soares taught another incredible seminar in Kingston on Thursday June 21, 2001. The seminar, which was organized on very short notice, had participants from Kingston, Toronto and Ottawa. Professor Soares focused on Guard Passing and Attacks from the Guard for the majority of the seminar.
