Having trained in several martial arts schools in New York, California, Dublin, Boston, and of course Kingston, I can without hesitation say that Martial Arts Planet has been the best run, most intense, fun, and rewarding experience.

I cannot recommend MAP enough. Training at MAP this year saved me in many ways. MAP got me in shape and made me feel healthy, happy, and strong. MAP provided a refuge and distraction from the stress and anxiety of work; the hectic life of a parent of two small children; the Winter Blues; and the pain from the recent loss of my father.

2009 PROMOTIONS

New BJJ Promotions

Congratulations to our newest BJJ students to receive some colour around their waists. Matthew Thomas was promoted to Green Belt (the highest junior level below Blue Belt) and Justin Yoo received his Blue Belt. Both students were promoted following a tough session of rolling at our recent seminar with World-Champion Leonardo Santos. Congratulations guys!!!

Martial Arts Planet now has not one but two BJJ Black Belts!

Martial Arts Planet students and guests were witness to one of the biggest rank promotions at our gym when Rebecca Sweeney was promoted to the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by our long-time coach and friend Wagnney Fabiano. This special milestone occurred near the end of a special instructional seminar on Sunday, June 7, 2009. For the past 12 years Rebecca has diligently worked on improving her BJJ skills and has effectively shared her progress with the students at our gym. We are all very, very proud to have her as such a positive role model at our gym!

New BJJ Blue Belt!

After an awesome ironman session our own local superman Matt Payn was awarded his BJJ Blue Belt. Matt has been training with us for well over a year and in addition to tearing up the mats at our gym he has done very well in competitions throughout the previous year. Well done Matt. We are all very proud of you!

Junior BJJ promotions!

On February 7, 2009 two of our junior BJJ students received new ranks. Bryant Bishop was promoted to Orange Belt, making him our highest ranked BJJ junior. Brad Badham has also been doing excellent these days and received his BJJ Yellow Belt. Keep up the great work guys!

Huge BJJ promotions!

HUGE Congrats to our two new BJJ Purple Belts, Chris Wellstood and Patti Hull, and also to our two newest Blue Belts, James Young and Matt Garrett! I am very proud of all of you!
