SWEENEY MAKES HISTORY WITH CAGE MATCH WIN

Local martial arts instructor Rebecca Sweeney made history on the weekend, when she became the first-ever female winner of a King of the Cage ultimate fighting event.
She outlasted a fighter from New Mexico at the Stampede Corral in Calgary, as part of a mixed martial arts event dubbed “Karnage.”
“I am so proud to have been given an opportunity and I couldn’t have done it without the support of teammates at our school, Martial?Arts Planet,” Sweeney said.
She teaches functional martial arts to men, woman and children at the school owned by her and her husband and coach, Mike Sweeney.
